1431: Joan of Arc's trial begins in Rouen, France. Joan's lawyers unsuccessfully try to get the trial moved to Los Angeles.


1951: The United Nations headquarters officially opens in New York City. Even the nearby hookers decide the neighborhood has become too sleazy and move on.


2005: Elections are held to replace Yasser Arafat as head of the Palestine Liberation Organization. He is succeeded by a car bomb.
