The first one we stayed at was Kinlochewe. (It means something like "place at the side of Lock Ewe"--though the loch it is near is now called Loch Maree.) It is an old village, and the hotel there was old and small. Our group were spread among three B&Bs and the hotel, and we ate at the hotel two of our nights.
Why do you suppose that nearly all my pictures of Kinlochewe are of food? Of course, we did go out from the place to hike each day, and returned to share dinner at night. I should have taken pictures of breakfast at our B&B--a true Scottish breakfast. Or the look on the landlady's face when we returned looking like drowned rats from our first day's hiking.
Sticky Toffee Pudding. It is a traditionally British dessert, but differently made in different places. The best I had was at the hotel in Kinlochewe.
Meat pies, mash and peas. Mushy peas are often served with fish and chips. I prefer these. We had meat pies in several places in Britain and these were the best at the Whistle Stop Cafe in Kinlochewe.
